Septic Arthritis
It is also sometimes called infectious arthritis as it is caused by bacterial, fungal or viral infection. The symptoms are: acute pain in joints, inflammation and redness. Fever is also a less likely consequence.
Septic arthritis mostly occurs in people:
- Who have a recent injury or traumatic accident
- Cases of joint surgery or joint replacement make a person more prone to the attack.
- Old age or weak immune system makes a person more vulnerable.
- Major skin lesion or damage can provide the bacteria a pathway into the blood stream and up to the joints.
