Gout
This is the disease caused by the deposition of uric acid crystals on the articular cartilage of joints, tendons and nearby tissues due to increased concentrations of uric acid in the blood stream. . When deposits occur in bone joints, specifically in the toes and fingers, they can produce severe and excruciating inflammation.
Gout can occur due to two main reasons of faulty uric acid processing:
- The kidneys are unable to excrete sufficient amounts of the normal production of uric acid.
- The body produces more uric acid than normal kidneys can remove.
